BHEL – Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has successfully commissioned ONGC Thermal Power Corporation OTPC’s second module of the 2×363.3 MW gas-based Combined Cycle Power Plant in India’s north east state of Tripura.
The CCPP – Combined Cycle Power Plant at Palatana, Dist. Udaipur, Tripura, about 50 kms from capital city of Agartala, consist of two modules of 363.3 MW each equipped with fuel efficient advanced class Frame 9FA Gas Turbines.
BHEL had bagged an EPC – Engineering, Procurement & Construction contract for setting up the CCPP, against ICB – international competitive bidding earlier.
The harsh terrain, incessant rains, and inadequate road infrastructure were some of the major hurdles and made it all the more difficult to transport from Hyderabad where BHEL’S works are situated; hence the consignments were transported through various modes of transport, which included waterways in Bangladesh under, a special agreement with the Government of Bangladesh to overcome logistical constraints present in conventional means of transportation.
Design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two Frame 9FA gas turbine generator sets, two steam turbine generator sets and two heat recovery steam generators with state-of-the-art controls & instrumentation, associated auxiliaries and balance of plant, in addition to complete civil works and spares were a part of BHEL’s scope of work in the project.
