DMIC project, several major infrastructure projects in Gujarat and other parts of the country seek funds from the World Bank and got a very positive response. Already WB has funded State Highway Development Plan I project and now funding SHDP-II project too in the state of Gujarat.
“A WB delegation along with its managing director Mulyani Indrawati and president Jim Yong Kim has confirmed participation in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. WB too is likely to participate in the summit.
World Bank funds, for major infrastructure projects are available at very nominal rates and it also ensures very high standards of project execution. Rs. 2,000 crore for SHDP-I project was funded by WB and now the sanction of around Rs. 4000 crore for a 1576 km long SHDP-II project is under consideration.
The proposal to fund infrastructure projects such as central spine infrastructure project, Dholera airport, metro rail and number of other key projects coming up on the DMIC region has been already shared with WB.
World Bank had shown its appreciation towards the execution of the SHDP-I project by the Gujarat Government and also replicated it elsewhere as the best practices. The planning of number of industrial parks and special investment regions (SIRs) on the DMIC corridor of Gujarat (Almost 39% of the DMIC region passes through Gujarat) is on Gujarat government’s priority list.
