The government of Bihar is said to have decided to form a SPV – Special Purpose Vehicles in a bid to fast track the Patna Metro rail project.
Once SPV is in place, the DPR – Detailed Project Report of the said will be sent to the central government for approval. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting with top officials of the state government
Board of directors, headed by a non-executive chairman and project director as MD of Metro Rail Project will form a SPV.
RITES – The Rail India Technical and Economic Service finalized the DPR for the Patna metro rail project and submitted it to the state government; with reduced project cost to Rs 14,000 crore from Rs 17,000 crore, which was estimated earlier.
The Bihar government plans to work towards declaring Patna a metropolitan city, hence it will help speed up the said project. Initially the Metro will be run on two routes.
